Automation Engineer at Göteborg Energi

Your Task

Our challenge is to maintain high availability of current facilities and systems while working on designing future solutions. This involves contributing to preventive maintenance work through standardization, a structured and optimized approach, and maintaining high quality. At the same time, we are involved in development through projects for modifications and new construction of facilities. Working both in the present and long-term makes this job very exciting.

As an automation engineer with us, you will perform project/maintenance assignments in the automation field at our production facilities and pumping stations. You will contribute to maintaining and developing automation systems and perform modifications. More specifically, your main tasks will include:

• performing PLC programming and ensuring that production facilities and pumping stations achieve the desired performance
• ensuring that performance and IT/OT security in automation systems meet the desired level
• installation, configuration, and optimization of automation systems
• troubleshooting, preparation, service, and maintenance of control and regulation equipment, as well as risk analysis for operational impact
• developing new technical solutions in new development projects or improving existing products
• optimizing production processes/regulation systems/process communication
• keeping up with developments in the field and exchanging experiences with colleagues
• participating in management and in projects as an executor and/or requirement setter/reviewer.

In the long run, you will be part of the automation preparedness, which occurs every 6-7 weeks.

Your Team

You will belong to the Automation unit within the maintenance department in the Heat and Cooling business area. The unit consists of 15 employees, of which 8 are automation engineers. We are responsible for all maintenance related to automation at the production facilities for heating, cooling, electricity, and gas, as well as pumping stations in the district heating network. We perform preventive and corrective maintenance, drive or participate in projects/maintenance assignments in the automation field at production facilities and pumping stations. Our task is also to maintain and develop the support systems/sub-processes that the service encompasses, such as documentation, material supply, FU rounds, etc. This is to achieve the right operational reliability and personnel safety. Through various training programs, we continuously update our skills.

Your Competence

We are looking for a colleague who is established in their professional role with solid experience in similar tasks within automation/control systems with maintenance of control and regulation systems. You have experience in programming/application development and/or IT/OT system installation/configuration with associated commissioning and testing (IAT/FAT/SAT). We prefer that your experience is within the process or power industry.

For you as an automation engineer, the PC is a natural working tool, and we see that you are a frequent user of database-based maintenance and calibration systems. The job requires that you have good knowledge of:

• programming of PLC systems and superior process monitoring systems
• control technology
• communication protocols
• sensors
• electrical safety
• pressure vessel directive
• ATEX.

Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have knowledge of:

• ABB 800xA, ABB AC500, ABB 800M, ABB Pluto, Siemens S7, and PCS7
• SIL (Safety Integrity Level).
• combustion systems
• KKS standard
• OT security

In addition to your experience, you have a technical education with a focus on automation from a vocational college or technical university (180 credits). Our facilities are geographically spread across the Gothenburg area, so you need to have a B driver's license.

The nature of the work requires that you have good analytical skills and enjoy problem-solving. You are expected to work independently with a high degree of responsibility to perform your tasks and deliver results. Therefore, it is important that you drive and complete your commitments.
